Deer Enters Grocery Store Through Automatic Doors Forcing Customers To Evacuate.
Last Friday, an injured deer walked into a Piggy Wiggly grocery store in Wisconsin, forcing an evacuation of patrons.
Deer Enters Grocery Store Through Automatic Doors Forcing Customers To Evacuate According to WDJT Milwaukee, the deer was injured before making its way into the grocery store, after it apparently slammed into a set of glass windows at the strip mall. The manager of Piggy Wiggly, Mike Edwards, said: “It had a broken leg obviously, and there was a little bit of blood.”
Despite its injuries, the deer managed to walk inside the store with the help of the automatic doors. Edwards said he initially feared for the customers, but then felt compassion for the deer.
“A deer walked into a liquor store …” The start of a great joke, right? Well, it actually happened this evening in the Wine & Spirits Department at our Darboy location. And it has a happy ending: Associates and guests formed a “human fence” to usher the little guy out an emergency exit door. He made it!
While the deer didn’t cause any damage and eventually laid down in the liquor section, police and Department of Natural Resources still advised customers and employees to evacuate the store.
“Right in mid-shopping so there were carts all over the store half full and carts in the checkout lanes,” said Edwards. After about an hour, authorities removed the deer but sadly it had to be put down due to its injuries.
